It’s not about me?!
On the path to greatness, one leader’s not-so rude awakening
No matter how hard I try I can’t “fully engage” my associates. Sarah L is a sales executive in a high profile position and was frustrated. Through self-reflection and upward feedback, she learned that this group did not need hand-holding or engaging. What they needed was a leader that would get stuff out of their way so they could stay focused. What they needed was a leader that could create an environment where they could engage themselves. It took a lot for Sarah to do what she first felt was “just staying out of the way”. The take away, move from doing to allowing.
